Today, hundreds of thousands of people are marching across the U.S. in support of women’s fundamental right to safe, legal abortion. In Texas, women’s access to safe abortion is now severely restricted because of new, cruel legislation outlawing abortions at six weeks of gestation when most women and girls don’t know they are pregnant. To obtain legal abortion care, women must now travel huge distances to neighboring states, incurring considerable expense. The impact is especially harmful for poor women. With the current composition of the Supreme Court, the 1973 decision on Roe v. Wade legalizing abortion has never been more threatened. A total of 47 states already have at least some restrictions on abortion access.
At this critical time, we face a dire situation. We must all speak out and take bold action to support reproductive justice in the U.S. and around the world!
